The eagle-eyed race fans among you might have spotted that Alpinestars Repsol Honda MotoGP duo Nicky Hayden and Dani Pedrosa have both been wearing some dinky new AStars Supertech R boots this season. Turns out the Repsol Honda pair have been doing a bit of R&D work for the Italian company.

The new Supertech R is a complete overhaul of the boot it replaces, the old Supertech. It's lighter, sleeker (less bulky), easier to get in and out of, has a beefed up but comfier inner boot offering the same torsional protection for your ankle as the old boots but they seem to weigh about half a kilo less. I've been wearing the old Supertechs since they came out in 2002 and don't feel as secure in anything else. Needless to say, there's a size 41 pair headed this way for testing. Unless JP hi-jacks my order and insists on a pair for his massive plates (of meat).

They look good in the office, hopefully they'll work better on a bike. Stay tuned. In the meantime you can check out Alpinestars website for more propaganda and info on their various sponsored racers.
