Midday Mumbai today published another report on Yamaha's imminent arrival in Indian markets with high capacity bikes. However just read through the test at the link to see how they just don't know what they are writing about. For the uninformed, Yamaha R1 is for approx US$11900 & the Yamaha MT-01 for around US$15900 in USA.

Two very cool bikes — Yamaha’s 1000 cc YZF–R1 and the 1670 cc MT-01 — will be zooming into India next month. And bike freaks have mangoes to thank for this.
The government’s decision to allow the import of motorcycles above
800 cc is the result of an agreement between India and the US.
The US eased norms for the import of Indian mangoes and India relaxed emission norms on bikes above 800cc with Euro 3 standard, paving way for the import of high-end motorcycles.
Yamaha Motor India (YMI) will become the first bike-making company in the country to take advantage of this relaxation.
“While a date has not been fixed for the India launch, efforts are on to make it as early as possible,†YMI’s MD, Tomotaka Ishikawa, said. Yamaha hopes to sell at least a dozen bikes a year. “For us the bikes are more of an image-building exercise than business.â€
In the US, the MT-01 costs $9,400 (Rs 3.8 lakh) and the YZF–R1 $5,500 (Rs 2.22 lakh).
While the YZF–R1 has already been approved by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune, the MT–01 is currently undergoing final approval tests. “These tests are essential for such ‘big bikes’ before they roll onto Indian roads,†ARAI director Srikanth Marathe said.
He added that sales of both the bikes are expected to commence once the company receives the first lot of imports from YMI’s parent plants in the US and Europe. “This could take a month.â€
