I bought a Pulsar 220 DTSFI some time back.

It was running ok. it has done 1700 kms till date.

2 days ago i noticed some oil dripping from the left hand side underneath the tank. Also the meter sensor had failed causing the meter not to show speed units.
I took it to the bagga link showroom in Karol bagh and told them about the problems.

The Showroom incharge, Mr. Pankaj Kappor assured me it will be fixed in 1 hour.
i returned after 1 hour from the karol bagh market and they said it's taken care off. I checked the meter and it was working fine and there was no oil dripping as well.

Today in the evening at around 5 i was going from South ex-1 to Gole market.
I was passing from Tuglaka road when i felt my left leg feeling cold, i ignored it.
Then it got too much and i looked down and what i saw scared me to death.
There was a stream of petrol coming from underneath the tank and to my horror it caught a spark from the spark plug and the Bike was on fire.

I stopped the Bike and switched the engine off. todd on the side of the road to cath my breath. then i called up Mr. Ramachandran Head Pro-Biking and told him what has happened. he got chocked and asked if i was ok, i said i am okay but my jeans and shoes are completely wet with Petrol and i could have caught fire with the bike. He gave me the number of Mr. Durgesh, service manager Bagga Link. I called Mr. Durgesh and he promised to send some mechanics at my location. the mechanics arrived in half an hour and examined the bike.

They asked me to sign on a handover job sheet and termed the bike's problem as break down. They towed the Bike to Karol bagh while i traveled in an Auto to Bagga Link Karol Bagh.

By that time a few of my friends had also arrived at Bagga link as i had called them earlier. They were really worried about me, they were fine once they saw, i was ok.

Then i went ahead and met Mr. Durgesh who asked me if i was okay and then he asked me what speed was i doing. I informed him i was doing around 40 kmph, then he asked the mechanic to take care of the problem.

The Bike took 2 hours to repair, they replaced the fuel injector unit with new ones.

Observations - Bajaj quality sucks till date compared to Hero Honda.
I owned a Karizma for more than 3 years and never did i come across any compromise on the part quality. They might be losing out to Bajaj in the sales war but in terms of quality they are still way ahead of them.

Atleast HH bikes don't have horrific issues like the front suspension cracking or breaking under use (refer Pulsar 200) or this one on the P 220 , the flagship model, technology laiden bike. P220 has so many minor issues as highlighted by other owners on XBHP.

This particular Injector Unit has been sourced by Delphi ans the only thing i can think of is somewhere compromises are being made on the component quality in favor of financial gains that might leave customers injured or might also kill them.

Besides sharing it with u guys on XBHP, i have called up a friend of mine from Aaj Tak and a lawyer from the consumer court to summon Bajaj Auto Limited and prompt them to take responsibility of all the issues pertaining to Quality of the components used.

To Alll p220 Owners : Please take care of this issue and take ur Bike to the nearest Pro-biking Showroom and get this thing checked. It may just be an issue with my Bike but there is no harm in getting this thing checked, it might just save a big accident.

Detailed pictures coming up tomorrow.
