The fact that bike racing is the most popular amongst motor sports was once again evident as a good crowd filled the grandstand. Hundreds of viewers had also lined the borders of Kari Motor Speedway track in Coimbatore to witness a great racing day as the 3rd leg of the Ucal Rolon National Road Racing Championship, an FMSCI approved Championship concluded today.
Group C 2 Stroke 110 – 150 cc
Race 1 came to a halt in lap 2 after a racing mishap at C 4 involving the vehicles of Preetham Dev Moses of Team TVS and Sriskandaraja of Team Yamaha. The race was restarted in a few minutes after Preetham received medical aid. Starting last at the restart Preetham came up with a heroic performance showing why he is one of the country’s top racers. With the race being reduced to 4 laps, Preetham did extremely well to move up from 11th place to finish a very significant 2nd. Race leader T. K. Vishwanath of Team Yamaha who was in the lead from the beginning held on grimly to withstand the onslaught of Preetham and K.Rajini also from Team TVS to emerge winner in a extremely close and well fought race. K. Rajini of Team TVS finished third. Race 2 was once again a thriller as race leader Vishwanath was overtaken by Preetham who however failed to hold on to the lead enabling Vishwanath to move into the lead once again. Holding to a very thin lead Vishwanath drove like one possessed to wind up a great race. Preetham finished a very close 2nd while Sriskandarajah finished a distant third.
Group D 4 Stroke 80 – 125 cc
Race 1 saw Ashwin of Team Yamaha regain his winning ways as he claimed his first win of the day. It was a fascinating three way fight till the very end for the top position between Ashwin, team mate Sriskandarajah and Preetham Dev Moses of Team TVS. However Ashwin held steadily to take the chequered flag. Sriskandarajah and Preetham finished together in 2nd spot with the same timings. Race 2 saw a repeat performance with Ashwin Sundar taking his second win of the day. Preetham finished 2nd while Sriskandarajah settled for third place.
Group D 4 Stroke 125 - 160 cc
Promising youngster R.Deepak has been a consistent performer in recent times. And his consistency reaped rich dividends as he grabbed the top slot in Race 1 by a whisker. He overcame K.Rajini of Team TVS despite the latter putting up a stiff fight. Harry Sylvester took the third place. Race 2 saw K. Rajini of Team TVS get a into a slender lead which he held on to the very last to romp home. Despite a spirited effort R.Deepak had to settle for the 2nd place. Harry Sylvester once again finished in 3rd place.
Group B 4 Stroke 110 – 160 cc
Preetham Dev Moses of Team TVS Racing registered his first win of the day as he emerged winner in Race 1. Finishing in 2nd and 3rd places were his team mates K. Rajini and P. Karthick. Race 2 saw Preetham come up with yet another spectacular effort to take the top slot once again. It was yet another repeat performance from K.Rajini and P. Karthick with both retaining the same placing as in Race 1.
Group B 4 Stroke 160 - 250 cc
R. Deepak’s fine run continued as went on to annex his second victory of the day by winning Race 1 with a very comfortable margin. Finishing in 2nd and 3rd places were P.Rajini and Ganesh Prasad respectively. It was a repeat story in Race 2 with the top three retaining their respective positions.
Group D 2 Stroke 110 – 150 cc
Race 1 saw V. Rohit Giri taking the chequered flag in comfort. S. Krishna Prasad finished in 2nd place and K.Arun Kumar in 3rd. Rohit Giri continued his domination with another very comfortable win in Race 2. Sudhakar Keshavan and S. Krishna Prasad took the 2nd and 3rd places respectively
Moped
The winner of the race in this category was R.G.Gopal. Suresh V and Vignesh Devarajan finished 2nd and 3rd respectively
